EARS
Typically, common ear issues can be managed by a general practitioner, especially if they are not persistent. However, some conditions require the expertise of an ear specialist.
If you experience any of the following, it’s advisable to consult an ear, nose, throat (ENT) specialist:
- Injury affecting your ears
- Nerve problems (loss of sensation around the ears)
- Persistent pain in and around the ears
- Balance problems, dizziness and vertigo
- Hearing impairments
- Ear infections
- Tinnitus (perception of noise or ringing)
- Ear tumours
NOSE
Although nosebleeds aren’t very common, they might occur due to injuries to the nasal mucosa. Nosebleeds may also be an indication of severe conditions. A nasal endoscopic examination at a nose specialist's clinic can help confirm the diagnosis.
Consider visiting our nose specialist in Singapore if you experience:
- Injury to your nose, externally or internally
- Pain or pressure within the nasal cavity and sinuses
- Obstructed breathing
- Smell disorders, including reduced sense of smell, bad smell within the nose, and complete lack of smell
- Undesirable nasal appearance
- Recurrent or persistent nosebleeds
- Persistent mucus which may be clear or coloured (yellow, green, or brown)
- Post-nasal drip
- Frequent flu or cold-like symptoms
THROAT
Throat problems are often ignored until they become serious. While it may be tempting to overlook issues like recurrent sore throats and voice hoarseness, seeking early specialist treatment is crucial for preventing complications.
If you have any of the following symptoms, it’s advisable to see a throat specialist promptly:
- Voice changes, hoarseness
- Neck or throat tightness when speaking
- Chronic or recurrent sore throat
- Injury to your neck and throat
- Persistent feeling of something stuck in the throat (Globus Sensation)
- Blood-stained saliva or secretion on coughing
- Chronic, persistent coughing
- Excessive phlegm in the throat
- Pain or difficulty swallowing
- Choking on food
