What is Microscopic ear clearance?
Microscopic ear clearance is a clinical procedure performed by an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist to remove earwax, foreign objects, or debris from the ear canal. Using a microscope, the ENT specialist gets a magnified view of the ear canal and tympanic membrane, ensuring precise and safe removal of impurities. The surgeon will also be able to identify any abnormalities in the ear canal’s skin and assess the condition of the tympanic membrane thanks to the magnified view.
During the procedure, various tools, such as metal scrapers, hooks, and suction devices, are used to clear the ear canal effectively. The choice of tools depends on the texture and consistency of the earwax or foreign object.
This procedure is performed within the confines of a clinic setting and may or may not involve local anaesthesia to ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure. Registered as a day-surgery procedure, this treatment is eligible for reimbursement through Medisave or your personal insurance.
