What is Naso-endoscopy?
Naso-endoscopy, also known as Nasal Endoscopy, is a minimally invasive procedure used to visualise the upper aerodigestive tract. It involves the usage of an endoscope, a thin and flexible tube equipped with a miniature camera and light source.
The scope is gently inserted through the nostril, enabling the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist to carefully examine the nasal cavity, nasopharynx (located at the back of the nose), oropharynx, and hypopharynx (the entire length of the throat). Should the need arise, the doctor can also conduct a quick screen of the voice box using naso-endoscopy.
This procedure is performed within a clinic and may or may not involve local anaesthesia to ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure. Registered as a day-surgery procedure, this treatment is eligible for reimbursement through Medisave or your personal insurance.
